Domains
Domain registration and domain hosting are completely different things.
域名注册和主机是完全不同的事情
Although we offer domain registration as well as hosting, you can host a domain with us you’ve registered elsewhere and register a domain with us you’re hosting elsewhere. Our system allows you to add domains to be hosted you haven’t even registered yet.. they just won’t work until they are!

For a registered domain to work with us, it must have its nameservers set to ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com, ns3.dreamhost.com and have been added to our hosting system.

Users
All domains are tied to one machine user, which is how you log in to your actual web server to upload and edit your site.

One user can have as many domains as you’d like under it, but each domain is under exactly one user.

You upload your site using a machine user via an FTP program. You can also connect to the unix web server via SSH if you enable “shell access” for a machine user.

Email
Once your hosting is set up and working you can add email addresses @yourdomain.com. They can either forward to an outside email address, or deliver to a new mailbox hosted on our mail servers, or both (or neither!).

The easiest way to send and receive email at mailboxes hosted on our mail servers is just to use webmail.yourdomain.com, the free webmail interface set up by us for every domain we host!

You can also check it with any email program by setting your incoming server to be mail.yourdomain.com. You can also send mail by setting your outgoing server to be mail.yourdomain.com.. be sure to select that “my server requires authentication” and remember that your username for logging in is not your email address, but rather the mailbox username you were given when creating the user!

This sub-tab is where you go to grant access privileges to another WebID/username. You’ll be able to let other users with a DreamHost WebID have access to your account’s users, domains, mailinglists, and databases.
